Plenary Indulgence For The Year Of Faith

DECREE
ON THE GIFT OF AN INDULGENCE
FOR THE YEAR OF FAITH
 
 
During the whole span of the Year of Faith, the Apostolic Penitentiary has granted Plenary Indulgence for the faithful to avail of. This is in conformity with the mind of the Pope to stimulate the faithful to know and love the Doctrine of the Church and to obtain more abundant spiritual fruits in this Year of Faith.
 
The same Decree grants authority to Local Ordinary to designate sacred places where people can visit by way pilgrimage and take part there in some sacred function or at least pause for an apt time of recollection with pious meditations, concluding with the recitation of the Our Father, the Profession of Faith in any legitimate form, and invocations to the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Holy Apostles.
 
In this consideration, I, by the Grace of God and Favor of the Apostolic See, hereby designate, by virtue of the faculty vested in me by the said Decree and by Canon 995, par. 1, the following Churches in the Archdiocese as pilgrimage churches: the Parish Church of the Holy Cross, Nabua, C.S; the Parish Church of Mary Magdalene, Bula, C.S; the Parish Church of Immaculate Conception, Quipayo, Calabanga, C.S; the Parish Church of St. John the Evangelist Metropolitan Cathedral, Naga City, and the Basilica Minore of our Lady of Peñafrancia.
 
Moreover, I hereby grant the plenary indulgence to each and every faithful under the usual conditions (Sacramental Confession, Eucharistic Communion and prayers for the Supreme Pontiff’s intentions in a spirit of total detachment from any inclination to sin) every time they visit the aforesaid pilgrimage sites or take part in the sacred liturgy in the same churches.
 
This decree comes into force during the Year of Faith from the day on which it is issued, contrary dispositions notwithstanding.
 
Given at our Chancery, City of Naga, Republic of the Philippines, this 25th day of January 2013, in the Year of our Lord.
